Passive Windows

The passive house concept is based on the idea if a building is well enough insulated little or no heating system is required. This is achieved by using different methods of insulation and the correct window system. The heat lost through passive windows is halved that of a typical low energy window. This is achieved by using triple glazing energy units and special window frames with a very high insulation capacity. Passive windows generally have total U-value of 0.7 W/m²*K or better, compare to a total U-value of approx 1.6 W/m²*K for typical low energy windows.)
